Day 2 Challenge: I want you to write down a reason for why you want to live the freedom lifestyle. Bonus points if you can figure out how to make a positive impact in the world by living this lifestyle.

In 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge

After listening to Natalie’s podcast interview with David Mead I thought I should work out my why in a more succinct way. I had a broader idea of my why, I wanted to help people better understand and recognise their emotions and mental health and how it affects their life as a whole. However, this is very broad and doesn’t explain it really as to what contribution I make to people’s lives and how it impacts them. So my why statement is below:

To better people’s understanding and ability to recognise their emotions, desires and base feelings so that they can bring their best self to the world, and enjoy their life not just live it for the sake of living it.

Getting more into what this all means and how I plan to do this, I want to use my own personal experiences as well as doing some additional study to get the tools to articulate my experiences. With my experiences and these additional learnings, I want to help people get a better understanding and handle on their emotional life and how this affects their physical life. I want to increase the emotional intelligence of society as a whole so that we all have a better understanding of not just our own emotions but each others and then we can all succeed to the best of our ability.

In terms of why freedom is important to me, I feel stuck and trapped in a way by having to get up every day at a certain time in order to go to an office for a set amount of time. And to have someone else define what I am doing for the day, don’t get me wrong my current day-to-day job offers a lot of autonomy and freedom but there are still, like all jobs that you are working for someone else’s goals, things that need to get down for the job to be done.

I like moving at my own pace and working at the times that I know are my peak and most productive times to work. I like the freedom of being able to work in my own space that makes me feel completely comfortable. In my world, I would get up and get ready at a leisurely pace and have some breakfast and a coffee. In terms of work I would work then may take a break in the afternoon to recharge and this may have me working until 8pm but that is fine by me as long as I am in my own space.

I would also like the freedom to be able to interact with who I choose to interact with, to be able to go to conferences and events where I am surrounded by like-minded people. I want to be able to share my knowledge with these people this tribe to help them also excel at their why. I am all about paying it forward, I want the freedom to pay it forward at all times not just during specific set times.

My idea of the freedom lifestyle to me will allow me to better connect with my core and my soul and this will also allow me to better align with the world. This alignment will perhaps allow me to assist the world to be a better place more than I do now.

I love your clarity around your ideal freedom lifestyle lovely and it’s such a great question to ponder.

Often we work towards lots of things but we don’t know why, or we don’t stop to figure out what it means or how it looks to us, and we can also get distracted by what other people want or believe success or freedom or happiness look like.

The key elements of my freedom lifestyle include choice (i.e. how I spend my days, who I connect with, how I connect and the wonderful people I surround myself with), travel, learning, adventure and being location independent and having plenty of money + financial abundance so I can be generous and help people and causes I love and believe in.

Actually come to think of it, I think Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman summed it up to a tea – “I say who, I say when, I say how much” – but in a much more loving, generous, aligned, abundant, joy filled + wonderful way! 🙂

Thank you so much Sarah, I really appreciate your positive feedback and support.

I love the Pretty Women quote I will have to add that to my collection. It’s so right that we often get distracted by other people’s idea of freedom or success that we forget to clarify our own. That’s the main reason I love this blog challenge, although I may be taking an extra day to do each post, it helps my very busy mind clarify why I am on this journey.

I realised a lot more why I want my freedom lifestyle the other day when I was working from home, my day job is really flexible which I love but there is still an expectation to go into the office. So the office is an open plan office and we keep expanding so lots of people and noise, as an introvert with a very busy mind my only way to focus is to block that out with headphones. However, I noticed when I was working from home the other day that the need for background sound was more about the surroundings as I went through almost the whole day with nothing in the background. No music, no podcasts, no youtube videos, nothing but silence, the ambient sounds around my house and the occasional barking of my puppy when he wanted attention. Such an Aha! moment.

Sorry complete tangent there, but I really do appreciate the support and feedback <3
