Day 9 Challenge: Imagine you are on a long holiday in Portugal (or wherever your dream destination is). There are castles to explore, secret bars to discover, and sunny beaches to laze around on. In today’s post, I want you to write about how you will balance your adventure and work while you are away on this holiday.
Allowing for location independence isn’t that hard to imagine as in a few weeks I will actually be off on a lovely and much needed holiday to the beautiful island of Cuba. This is a dream I have wanted for a little while and I am so excited, albeit a little scared as it will be my first solo trip overseas at the age of 31. Took me long enough I know but I just couldn’t stop myself.
Now this trip will be different than ones I will take in the future for a few reasons, I still have my full-time job but won’t be doing any of that whilst in Cuba. I am still starting out with my blog that I hope to turn into my freedom lifestyle business. But the major thing is that Cuba has unreliable or non-existent internet, unlike most other areas I may visit. It is a country that has been so separated from western, namely US, development for over 40 years that has meant it’s not on the same wi-fi in every hotel or cafe realm as most other nations. This will mean although I can do a lot of planning and writing I can’t do any posting of things with no to little access to online.
For this trip, I plan to just do a lot of planning and writing and working out concepts to further develop my blog and business to get me to that freedom lifestyle.
In future when i take trips there will be a lot of automation set up beforehand to make sure that i have a consistent flow of content going live, or at least I will have a backlog of written content to push live. But with any access to the internet, I will also be able to monitor and also action things. So publish posts when or if needed, stay on top of social media and emails and stay connected to my community and my business.
Of course, I will also be on holidays so these things can’t be done as much as when I am not, but I will make sure to have some time set aside to do these things. Even if it is just after dinner and before bed, I will be a bit disconnected from it all but I will not completely disconnect.
Once my business grows to the point that I may have others who also assist then they will be able to handle the bulk of these tasks day to day and I will just check in. I will never, though, completely opt out of being across everything as this will be and is my brand, my baby and my world so I will be very protective and involved.
